Interview APP Founder – Mo Radjab

Name Founder: Mo Radjab

Name Company: MijnKassabon

Name App: MijnKassabon

Category App: Shopping / lifestyle / personal finance

Is the App created for a certain country/area or worldwide: For now only available in The Netherlands

As Founder of this fantastic App, what was your motivation to create such an App?
“A couple years ago I bought a trendy headphone in Rotterdam City. When I arrived home I was truly excited about my headphone so I start unpacking the box and put all the wrapping materials in the shopping bag and throw the bag away. As from that moment I started to use my brand new headphones. A couple days later I noticed a rare irritating noice coming from the left speaker, first I thought that the quality of the music file couses this disturbance. The music was obviously not the issue here, this is definitely a technical malfunction. So I went back to the store and guess what?! I lost my receipt! Most probably it was in the bag I threw away. I tried to get my headphone repaired but they couldn’t help unfortunately! This problem results in my Start-up: MijnKassabon, as from now you will never loose a receipt again!”

Why should Users download this App?
MR: “You have all your loyalty cards in one place, including all your important receipts which can be handy e.g. if: you want to return a product / claim your warranty or if you want to have clear insights in your personal finance. This app can also be usefull for your insurrance company.”

What are the advantages compared to other similar App’s?
MR: “We provide the ability to store receipts combined with loyalty cards, this is a rare combination. The most apps are only capable to digitize loyalty cards. Besides this benefit we are currently developing a personal budget tool, all your receipt will be directly processed in your spendings. With this new feature we will have a 100% one of a kind App. Try to beat this!”

Can you tell something about the process, challenges, hurdles and time spent from the moment you start (The Idea) till the moment you launched the App at the AppStore / GooglePlay?
MR: “It costs us 2,5 year from idea till launching of the App. To get there, we involved several parties like designers, developers and legal advisors. To fund this project we closed a successful crowdfunding campaign in September 2016.”

What is the business model of the App (how does the App earns money?)
MR: “By analyzing data we are able to give retailers insight in consumer behavior and predictive analysis on e.g. the next purchase.”

Do you still need funds to get the App to the next stage?
MR: “Yes, we are currently preparing a new funding round.”

Once you launched the App in the Appstore / GooglePlay, what did you do to promote this App to your target audience (user group)? Do you think Applepies (as worldwide rating and reviewing Online App Magazine) can have a certain role in this?
MR: “We launched a social media campaign to promote our applications and tried to write blogs and review sites/magaxzines. To be hounest I don’t have any idea if Applepies can help as this is a quite new digital magazine and needs to find their audience first, besides this Applepies needs to work on their SEO and their overall social media position.”

You as a visionair, what is your view on the new technologies of the digital smartphone (App) world. Do you think that within 1 to 5 years App’s will be indispensable?
MR: “Apps are already being used to control home/consumer electronics and there are also solutions for confidential confersations and digital payments. My view on future mobile tech? I think that we don’t have any control over the solutions tech companies are developing. For example Blockchain, this is beyond everything! The impact of this technology will be huge. A regular person in our society will not be able to understand this due to the complexity of the technology. The person who can answer your question properly, is the next billionaire as you need to come up with a brand new ability/feature for future purposes. Try to answer this question so you understand how difficult it is to answer your’s: name something you can’t do with a mobile device what should be possible and/or available for everybody with a mobile device? (good luck with this one)”

Last but not least is there anything you want to recommend other creators/founders?
MR: “Yes, I had at least 10 conversations with different developers before hiring one, reason: a lot of these guys think that they can get the job done. This will prevent any disappointment and will save you a lot of time and costs.”
