Grocemania believes it should be easy to order groceries online from any independent and chain store and get the order delivered on demand without spending any extra. Grocemania aims to disrupt the current online marketplace by delivering from local grocery stores, straight to the doorstep, on demand with only a £2.50 Delivery Fee!

The platform allows customers to browse and buy from local stores online and have it delivered by local couriers in as little as one hour. Unlike some of the existing delivery options, we have over 20 stores in one App, only a £10 ‘minimum order’ and a flat £2.50 fee.

Q&A

As Founder of this fantastic App, what was your motivation to create such an App?
AB:
“As I was still a final year student and had to find a part-time (Digital Developer) job to pay for my University fee I’ve faced a problem of a complete lack of time and every trip to a grocery store was a huge pain for me. And once, I got seriously ill and asked three of my friends to get me some fruits & sweets from a local Tesco, which they obviousl forgot to do. I was a bit upset with them and screamed “Why no-one like Deliveroo, JustEat or Postmates can bring me some simple groceries from any local shop now and I pay £2 – £5?”. We all went quite for a sec and understoon that it was a great, new and innovative idea!”


Why should App Users download this App?
AB:

What are the advantages compared to other similar App’s?
AB:
“Unlike some of the existing delivery options, we have dozens of different stores in one App, all deliveries are done in minutes, only a £10 minimum basket and a flat £2.50 fee.”


Can you tell something about the process, challenges, hurdles and time spent from the moment you start (The Idea) till the moment you launched the App at the AppStore / GooglePlay?
AB:
“The biggest issue on my point of view is always the money and fundraising process. The biggest issue for me, as a non-developer was a lack of knowledge for sure. I didn’t know how many resources exist already to test and prototype you App. For example, TapCart an easy constructor which allows you to launch your App without spending thousands on development. If I knew about all those opportunities from the start, we could have done everything much faster and save a lot of money.”


Once you launched the App in the Appstore / GooglePlay, what did you do to promote this App to your target audience (user group)? Do you think Applepies (as worldwide rating and reviewing Online App Magazine) can have a certain role in this?
AB:
“We worked a lot on SEO to reach first page of Google for our targeted keywords. I personally admire SEO and think it will NEVER die and be one of the best ways to test the demand for your product / service. We have also launched dozens of PPC & CPM campaigns with Google & Facebook. Some direct marketing like flyers & posters at our partner stores were landed (with additional voucher codes for Free Deliveries). So, quite a lot of on-line and off-line marketing was done 😊.”


You as a visionairy person,
what is your view on the new technologies of the digital smartphone (App) world. Do you think that within 1 to 5 years App’s will be indispensable?
AB:
“I think we are already in the future. You can already control all your home appliences with the Nest & Google Home. Your car with an App. Order food with JustEat, Delvieroo. Groceries with Grocemania. Book hotel with Booking, flat with Airbnb and a parking with JustPark next to the flat. The reall question now is who will provide the best User Experience and benefit to the local communities and the one who manages to combine both will be the winner 😊. “


Are you currently (still) looking for investments or funds to finalise or optimize your App?
AB:
“Yes, we are currently raising our first seed round with a croudfunding paltfrom Seedrs (seedrs.com/grocemania1) and already reached 67% of our total campaign! The funds will be used to complete the development of Partner Dashboard interface and Stock Control systems.”


Are you familiar with the definition Monetization (how to earn money with your App)? Are you open for ad companies sending advertisements through your App?
AB:
“Yes, we are always open for ad proposals 😊”

 

Wat is the business model of the App (how does the App earns money?) Think of advertisements, premium subscriptions in the App etc?
AB:
“We are commision based busienss and have two main streams of revenue. Fixed Delivery Fee and Commision (Mark-Up) we take on every product purchased through our website.”


Last but not least is there anything you want to recommend other App Founders/Creators?
AB:
“Guys, never give up. Every defeat and every person who will tell you “You can not do it” – should only motivate you to prove everyone wrong! Enjoy it – the life is a big journey 😉”
