Category App: Utilities; an App that allows consumers to trace/localize other Apps that are close by offering/pushing interesting discounts, last-minute prices and loyalties programs etc. through that specific App.
Is the App created for a certain country/area or worldwide: Worldwide, but now only fully operational in Italy. Spain and Russia just started. US will be the next market.
As Founder of this fantastic App, what was your motivation to create such an App?
OD: “We created the App for Apps, the first search engine that geolocalize the Apps around yourself. The particularity is that every App found in Appmetropolis, must have an offer for the clients that download it. For example a free drink for in a Bar.
Appmetropolis works also as a circuit in the area. We put in contact every customer with an App and we get them to exchange their clients. How do they do that?
For example, if I have a beauty saloon, I can get in touch with somebody with a restaurant. I will send a coupon to all my clients that downloaded my App with a special coupon to be spent in that restaurant with for example a 50% discount on a dinner.The restaurant will send with a push notification a coupon to all his clients with a special offer to spend in my saloon.
So with Appmetropolis, our customers can get new clients that come to visit their business already with their app installed in the Iphone (they downloaded the coupon) and they can start to engage with them with for example a loyalty card.”
Why should Users download this App?
OD: “As explained before, every App that is on Appmetropolis, must have an offer for the client. So we created not just a search engine for Apps, but we give an incentive to clients to download them and get the discount/offer/coupon. Is a new “hybrid” marketplace, more near the interests also for the merchants, where get loyalty customers then people only focus on coupons. (we bring them with their APP already installed).”
What are the advantages compared to other similar App’s?
OD: “There are no other Apps like Appmetropolis at the moment. We catalogue all the Apps with geolocalization shown on a map (like google maps). Appmetropolis is THE APP OF APPS.
Can you tell something about the process, challenges, hurdles and time spent from the moment you start (The Idea) till the moment you launched the App at the AppStore / GooglePlay?
OD: “Our work is in two steps.
First we have to sell and create a personalized App for our customers (our target are small and medium businesses) and then this App will go on Appmetropolis.
In the first phase, to test the market we used reps and after 1 year we started the franchising Migastone. In 8 months we got more then 20 affiliates that work locally to sell and create Apps and then manage the Appmetropolis circuits.
They will be responsible to get all the Apps of the customers to work together and exchange clients as explained before. At the moment, after the success in Italy we already opened Russia and Spain with our master franchisor but the main goal is to test Appmetropolis and our idea in the US, in a couple of big towns (like L.A. and New York for example) and then scalate the project at national level.
To get to the US we will need an investor to finance the operation there.”
Once you launched the App in the Appstore / GooglePlay, what did you do to promote this App to your target audience (user group)? Do you think Applepies (as worldwide rating and reviewing Online App Magazine) can have a certain role in this?
OD: “The promotion is made indirectly.The shops/restaurants etc. that join the Appmetropolis Circuit allow to add a menu dedicated to APPMETROPOLIS, over this we send out to all their customers every 2 months a PUSH NOTIFICATION that explain Appmetropolis.”
You as a visionair, what is your view on the new technologies of the digital smartphone (App) world. Do you think that within 1 to 5 years App’s will be indispensable?
OD: “We work in the specific field of communication, communicate effectively with the customers and be near them, pumper them is crucial in a world with so many sollecitations. Because we believe in loyalty, we cannot ignore that APPs will be the most effective place where bring all the most loyalty customers.”
Are you currently (still) looking for investments or funds to finalise or optimize your App?
OD: “Yes, we are looking for investors to bring Appmetropolis in the US. In addition we are still looking for other Master Franchisee. In Italy, Russia and Spain we already have partners.”
Wat is the business model of the App (how does the App earns money?) Think of advertisements, premium subscriptions in the App etc?
OD: “Appmetropolis is a subsription service. In Italy, clients pay 500 Euros per year in the smaller circuit (less then 30 Apps within 30km radius) and 1.000 Euro’s per year where there is already a circuit with more then 30 Apps. Considering that every App has around 200 people that download it, the circuit is about 6.000 people that can be reached.”
Last but not least is there anything you want to recommend other creators/founders?
OD: “Always focus on the ROI given to the customers… many times we make beautyfull Apps etc. that in fact on the field cannot attract money to the customer (merchant) 😉 ROI is important.”
